The encoded protein is part of the large ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex SNF/SWI and has sequence similarity to the yeast Swp73 protein. This alteration results from a C to T substitution at nucleotide position 1273, causing the arginine (R) at amino acid position 425 to be replaced by a cysteine (C).
