Genes affected
BBS9 (HGNC:30000): (Bardet-Biedl syndrome 9) This gene is downregulated by parathyroid hormone in osteoblastic cells, and therefore is thought to be involved in parathyroid hormone action in bones. The exact function of this gene has not yet been determined. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]

The c.1063C>A (p.Q355K) alteration is located in exon 10 (coding exon 9) of the BBS9 gene. This alteration results from a C to A substitution at nucleotide position 1063, causing the glutamine (Q) at amino acid position 355 to be replaced by a lysine (K). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear.
