Genes affected
RECQL4 (HGNC:9949): (RecQ like helicase 4) The protein encoded by this gene is a DNA helicase that belongs to the RecQ helicase family. DNA helicases unwind double-stranded DNA into single-stranded DNAs and may modulate chromosome segregation. This gene is predominantly expressed in thymus and testis. Mutations in this gene are associated with Rothmund-Thomson, RAPADILINO and Baller-Gerold syndromes. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Baller-Gerold syndrome Uncertain:1
Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitterclinical testingLabcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), LabcorpDec 19, 2020In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. Algorithms developed to predict the effect of missense changes on protein structure and function (SIFT, PolyPhen-2, Align-GVGD) all suggest that this variant is likely to be tolerated, but these predictions have not been confirmed by published functional studies and their clinical significance is uncertain. This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with RECQL4-related conditions. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This sequence change replaces glutamine with lysine at codon 1091 of the RECQL4 protein (p.Gln1091Lys). The glutamine residue is moderately conserved and there is a small physicochemical difference between glutamine and lysine. -
