The p.K396Q variant (also known as c.1186A>C), located in coding exon 9 of the FKTN gene, results from an A to C substitution at nucleotide position 1186. The lysine at codon 396 is replaced by glutamine, an amino acid with similar properties. This amino acid position is not well conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, the in silico prediction for this alteration is inconclusive. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear.
