The p.E983K variant (also known as c.2947G>A), located in coding exon 37 of the COL5A1 gene, results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 2947. The glutamic acid at codon 983 is replaced by lysine, an amino acid with similar properties. This amino acid position is highly conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, the in silico prediction for this alteration is inconclusive. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
