Mutations in this gene have been associated with KBG syndrome, which is characterized by macrodontia, distinctive craniofacial features, short stature, skeletal anomalies, global developmental delay, seizures and intellectual disability. The c.988A>G (p.K330E) alteration is located in exon 9 (coding exon 7) of the ANKRD11 gene. This alteration results from a A to G substitution at nucleotide position 988, causing the lysine (K) at amino acid position 330 to be replaced by a glutamic acid (E).
