This gene complements an X-linked mouse temperature-sensitive defect in DNA synthesis, and thus may function in DNA repair. It is part of a gene cluster on chromosome Xp11.23. This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with UBA1-related disease. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This sequence change replaces aspartic acid with glutamic acid at codon 874 of the UBA1 protein (p.Asp874Glu). The aspartic acid residue is highly conserved and there is a small physicochemical difference between aspartic acid and glutamic acid. -
