The protein is cleaved into a catalytic serine protease chain and a non-catalytic scavenger receptor cysteine-rich chain, which associate via a single disulfide bond. The c.208G>A (p.E70K) alteration is located in exon 5 (coding exon 4) of the HPN gene. This alteration results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 208, causing the glutamic acid (E) at amino acid position 70 to be replaced by a lysine (K). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
