Genes affected
EPCAM (HGNC:11529): (epithelial cell adhesion molecule) This gene encodes a carcinoma-associated antigen and is a member of a family that includes at least two type I membrane proteins. This antigen is expressed on most normal epithelial cells and gastrointestinal carcinomas and functions as a homotypic calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule. The antigen is being used as a target for immunotherapy treatment of human carcinomas. Mutations in this gene result in congenital tufting enteropathy. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]

Hereditary cancer-predisposing syndrome Uncertain:1
Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitterclinical testingAmbry GeneticsJan 05, 2022The p.S102G variant (also known as c.304A>G), located in coding exon 3 of the EPCAM gene, results from an A to G substitution at nucleotide position 304. The serine at codon 102 is replaced by glycine, an amino acid with similar properties. This amino acid position is conserved. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be tolerated by in silico analysis. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -
