It encodes a protein that shows sequence similarity to bacterial DnaJ protein and the yeast homologs. In bacteria, this protein is implicated in protein folding and protein complex dissociation. Disruption of this splice site has been observed in individual(s) with clinical features of DNAJB2-related conditions (PMID: 25274842). It has also been observed to segregate with disease in related individuals. This variant is not present in population databases (gnomAD no frequency). This sequence change affects a donor splice site in intron 4 of the DNAJB2 gene.
