The c.6183_6184delGA mutation in the ASPM gene causes a frameshift starting with codon Lysine 2062, changes this amino acid to an Isoleucine residue and creates a premature Stop codon at position 5 of the new reading frame, denoted p.Lys2062IlefsX5. This mutation is predicted to cause loss of normal protein function either through protein truncation or nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. Although the c.6183_6184delGA mutation has not been previously reported to our knowledge, it is interpreted as a disease-causing mutation. -
