The p.D978H variant (also known as c.2932G>C), located in coding exon 16 of the PALLD gene, results from a G to C substitution at nucleotide position 2932. The aspartic acid at codon 978 is replaced by histidine, an amino acid with similar properties. This amino acid position is conserved. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be deleterious by in silico analysis. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. -

This sequence change replaces aspartic acid, which is acidic and polar, with histidine, which is basic and polar, at codon 491 of the PALLD protein (p.Asp491His).
