This gene encodes a myosin alkali light chain that is found in embryonic muscle and adult atria. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency) and has not been reported in the literature in individuals with a MYL4-related disease. This sequence change replaces proline with leucine at codon 8 of the MYL4 protein (p.Pro8Leu). The proline residue is moderately conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between proline and leucine. -
