Possible Problems
Out of Service
Even though GeneBe's uptime is around 99%, it is not set up to be highly available yet. This is why every server maintenance causes a service interruption. If you experience problems with the GeneBe API, visit Uptime Robot to check the status of the service. If the problem persists, contact us.
During system updates, service downtimes usually don't last more than 10 minutes. Please take this into account when implementing systems using the GeneBe API.
Error 429: Too Many Requests
If you experience a Too Many Requests
error, you have made more requests than are supported for your Account Plan. Read more in the "Rate Limits" chapter of the documentation. If you are not logged in, create an account and obtain an API key. If you still hit the limit, contact us for an upgraded Account Plan.
Problems when using the GeneBe VEP plugin
Some users were reportig problems with using GeneBe VEP plugin. This plugin uses GeneBe API, so the main source of problems may be Too Many Requests
. However, VEP plugin is hard to maintain and it queries our server for single variant at once. In result it is slow and cannot use newest features of GeneBe. It is strongly recommened to use the GeneBe client for VCF file annotation. You can find more here VCF annotation with ACMG criteria and here VCF annotation with GeneBe Hub databases.
If you are working in Python you may also be interested in annotating variants with Pandas.
