It is specifically expressed in the retina, and is involved in the transmission and amplification of the visual signal. This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with PDE6H-related conditions. This variant is present in population databases (rs775561506, ExAC 0.006%). This sequence change replaces arginine with leucine at codon 20 of the PDE6H protein (p.Arg20Leu). The arginine residue is highly conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between arginine and leucine. -
