The encoded protein can interact with CTBP1, SMAD3, CREBBP, KAT2B, MAPK8, and MAPK9. This gene can undergo translocation with the AML1 gene, resulting in overexpression of this gene and the onset of leukemia. The p.I1236V variant (also known as c.3706A>G), located in coding exon 17 of the MECOM gene, results from an A to G substitution at nucleotide position 3706. The isoleucine at codon 1236 is replaced by valine, an amino acid with highly similar properties. This amino acid position is conserved. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be tolerated by in silico analysis. Based on the available evidence, the clinical significance of this variant remains unclear. -
