The alanine at codon 850 is replaced by threonine, an amino acid with similar properties. Another alteration affecting the same amino acid (p.A850D, c.2549C>A) has been reported in an individual with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (Fokstuen S et al. Hum. Mutat., 2008 Jun;29:879-85). This amino acid position is highly conserved in available vertebrate species. In addition, this alteration is predicted to be deleterious by in silico analysis. Since supporting evidence is limited at this time, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear. - |
