Genes affected
MUSK (HGNC:7525): (muscle associated receptor tyrosine kinase) This gene encodes a muscle-specific tyrosine kinase receptor. The encoded protein may play a role in clustering of the acetylcholine receptor in the postsynaptic neuromuscular junction. Mutations in this gene have been associated with congenital myasthenic syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

The c.1245G>C (p.E415D) alteration is located in exon 10 (coding exon 10) of the MUSK gene. This alteration results from a G to C substitution at nucleotide position 1245, causing the glutamic acid (E) at amino acid position 415 to be replaced by an aspartic acid (D). Based on insufficient or conflicting evidence, the clinical significance of this alteration remains unclear.
