SGCD (HGNC:10807): (sarcoglycan delta) The protein encoded by this gene is one of the four known components of the sarcoglycan complex, which is a subcomplex of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex (DGC). DGC forms a link between the F-actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. This protein is expressed most abundantly in skeletal and cardiac muscle. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal recessive limb-girdle muscular dystrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy. This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals with SGCD-related disease. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This sequence change replaces glutamine with histidine at codon 95 of the SGCD protein (p.Gln95His). The glutamine residue is weakly conserved and there is a small physicochemical difference between glutamine and histidine. -
