The variant allele was found at a frequency of 3.4e-06 in 887534 control chromosomes. The available data on variant occurrences in the general population are insufficient to allow any conclusion about variant significance. To our knowledge, no occurrence of c.-92C>T in individuals affected with Beta Thalassemia has been reported. At least one publication reports experimental evidence of no impact on transcription level (Myers_1986). ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 632842).
