Genes affected
RECQL4 (HGNC:9949): (RecQ like helicase 4) The protein encoded by this gene is a DNA helicase that belongs to the RecQ helicase family. DNA helicases unwind double-stranded DNA into single-stranded DNAs and may modulate chromosome segregation. This gene is predominantly expressed in thymus and testis. Mutations in this gene are associated with Rothmund-Thomson, RAPADILINO and Baller-Gerold syndromes. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Baller-Gerold syndrome Uncertain:1
Uncertain significance, criteria provided, single submitterclinical testingInvitaeOct 09, 2023This sequence change replaces glycine, which is neutral and non-polar, with serine, which is neutral and polar, at codon 869 of the RECQL4 protein (p.Gly869Ser). This variant is present in population databases (rs750282072, gnomAD 0.05%). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with RECQL4-related conditions. ClinVar contains an entry for this variant (Variation ID: 571584). Algorithms developed to predict the effect of missense changes on protein structure and function output the following: SIFT: "Not Available"; PolyPhen-2: "Not Available"; Align-GVGD: "Not Available". The serine amino acid residue is found in multiple mammalian species, which suggests that this missense change does not adversely affect protein function. Algorithms developed to predict the effect of sequence changes on RNA splicing suggest that this variant may disrupt the consensus splice site. In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. -
