The EPB41 gene has multiple clinically relevant transcripts. This variant occurs in alternate transcript NM_001166005.1, and corresponds to NM_004437.3:c.-470T>C in the primary transcript. This sequence change replaces serine, which is neutral and polar, with proline, which is neutral and non-polar, at codon 80 of the EPB41 protein (p.Ser80Pro). This variant is present in population databases (no rsID available, gnomAD 0.003%). This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with EPB41-related conditions. Experimental studies and prediction algorithms are not available or were not evaluated, and the functional significance of this variant is currently unknown.
